It's a very wet start to the day in Beijing and several events are affected, including the men's and women's BMX semi-finals


But the women's 20km walk starts on time, with Russia's Olga Kaniskina establishing an early lead over the rest of the field


The weather has little impact on conditions for the men's inaugural 10km swim at the Shunyi rowing lake


Or the women's beach volleyball, where China are roared on to victory in the bronze-medal match against Brazil
