Default Mercury Marauder

I don't know exactly why, but I like this car:

Is it a good car?

It looks like a Lincoln Town Car transposed onto a Crown Vic chassis. It looks pretentious. Not my style. It's not even a performance car; hardly American muscle.

^ true to a point, but I bet a heavier S55 could still "out handle" it..

This is probably the only Crown Vic I'd be some what happy to see.. as long as there are no lights in the window

Too bad Ford didn't give it a supercharger from the factory, then it would have been really badass...but they are still quite cool looking in person, and sound nice too. 8)

This car is for gangsters who yearn to be undercover cops.

I had an opportunity to drive this car for about a mile down the road. The interior space is definitely roomier than my Cobra, I would love to have this car for a daily driver. It does need more power and torque, something that a Roots ; or to a lesser extent a centrifugal blower could make up for. I can only imagine how expensive it could have been if they did decided to supercharge it back then. Out the door new it cost about $30.000. When the Marauder concept car came out about a year or two before production, that car had a 4.6 SOHC supercharger in it. Mercury was even toying with a convertible model, then shortly thereafter, Marauder production was stopped forever.

A convertible would've been interesting, although I'm not sure people would buy it. It certainly differentiates it from the boring looking sedan.
