Default Carrera GT vs SLR McLaren

Drag race and track comparison. Which car do you think is going to win?

The SLR will more than likely win since it's a far easier car to drive with it being an Automatic.

If the CGT owner doesn't crash his car, he should be able to take on the SLR.

Oh wait, wasn't that the Top Gear review?

Yeah, SLR won by a hair... It helps to have an automatic which lets you concentrate on taking corners tightly and so on.

The real driver is the one able to drive his car in every condition...in my opinion the ability of the driver depends on the gearbox uses...BTW is my opinion

True, and lets not forget that an automatic is almost always slower then a manual, so if the SLR had a manual gearbox, would this mean that it would be even faster ?

In terms of acc up to 100km/k they are neck in neck , after 100 the SLR has the advantage, it has monstruous torque.

In pretty much every magazine test the Carrera GT has outaccelerated the SLR by over a second to 120mph (200kph), the SLR only gains right at the top end when its lack of downforce helps its acceleration (>260kph). Its torque wont help its low down acceleration when its got to lug 300 odd kg more.

Cool video.

Shows how close they are in performance terms on that little test track and in a drag anyways! Cool 8)

In the AMS test at Nardo , the SLR was faster up to 200km/h and significantly faster up to 300km/h

I know that other magazines timed them the other way around :bah:

 Carrera GT lost all races. SLR is fast in drag race and TG track but I don'T think SLR will win a 10 lap race in f1 class race track because of its brakes.

AMS tested them both to 200 at 10.7
GT faster to standing KM
SLR faster by 4 secs to 300
