How nice, ur everymove on the internet is recorded by google for their 'marketing' purpose. After they sucessfully get the behavior on how ppl surf the net they can sell it out..............
I think I can live with pages load a ted slower

Microsoft would have to put up alot of money,
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GOOG&d=t - google isn't doing all the bad (just cause their site looks shity doesn't mean anything, it saves on bandwith )

Alright.. let me set the record straight
1. They are creating a web browser, most likely based on Firefox since they've hired 2-3 of Firefox's lead designers... and who knows it better than they?
2. Microsoft is getting hugely annoyed by google's search engine dominance, so much in fact that they have just recently invested $150 million in their search engined and so far have not been able to catch up (source: Fortune)
3. There is no way in hell microsoft can buy out google, since over 50% of the shares are owned by the two presidents of the company who have said pointedly that microsoft can go screw themselves. Even if Microsoft was to buy the other 49% (or however much it is), they would still be the minority share holder.
Oh right, and as for the web accelerator? There's some problems with privacy, as the way it works to speed up your connection is by caching the pages on google's server, and then indexing them in google. So, every admin tool you access on your webserver through google gets indexed by it.... can you say security problems?

Web proxies adn caching systems are nothing new - it simply means the info you receive is are subject to how fresh their cache is - this has always been the major problem with caching systems.
Fuck em.

^^ the thing is, if it isn't cached in google, it will then be... and anyone who searches google will be able to come across it. If you got something hidden away, this is a bad thing to have

I could be wrong but I think they've already been trying to buy google early on, but were unable agree on price.
Back on topic, I wouldn't recommend using it...
· Google Web Accelerator sends requests for web pages, except for secure web pages (HTTPS), to Google, which logs these requests. Some web pages may embed personal information in these page requests.
· Google receives and temporarily caches cookie data that your computer sends with webpage requests in order to improve performance.
· In order to speed up delivery of content, Google Web Accelerator may retrieve webpage content that you did not request, and store it in your Google Web Accelerator cache.

I dislike proxy systems on general as they make it easy for the person running the system to spy on you and even use any info you send thorugh them in a malicious way, and also for people using it to be dickheads on interactive sites like forums etc...
as for google in particular, all their clever systems are quite clever but I dislike the way they can now gather so much info about anyone just from how they use the net.. if their was ever a police state and they got their hands on googles info god knows how they would use it !

^For that matter, imagine a JW member in the download group uses that google thingy and now, all the video links in JW now will be avaliable thru google search. Now that's dangerous.
