Talking 20th Anniversary of E30M3 present from MK-Motorsport

When the first M3 of the E30 model range first saw the light of day in 1986, the technicians at MK-Motorsport weren’t merely concerned with technical and aerodynamic improvements to the top model in the 3 series. The M3 went on to score numerous successes in a wide range of racing classes. Whether the DTM, European GT championships, DTT, long-distance cup or 24-hour Nürburgring – the MK M3 came up trumps in all disciplines.

The 20-year jubilee is reason enough for MK to give the classic road sports car a complete make-over inside and out. Besides carbon-fibre front and rear aprons, MK now offers side skirts, doors, wings, mirrors, bonnets and boot lids in this lightweight high-strength material. The aerodynamics package is completed by two front and two back-spoiler splitters.

MK’s technical expertise is based on 20 years of experience in the motor racing business, producing an optimum mix of performance, fuel economy and durability. The result is various performance classes for the 2.3 and 2.5 l engines. An MK airbox system, consisting of a carbon-fibre airbox, alpha N electronics with a new engine control unit and software dating from 2005 (like in the M3 E46) kicks off the range. The result of the “A” engine kit is a performance gain of more than 20 bhp.

The “B” engine kit goes even further. For this kit, MK technicians take an MK sports camshaft, a modified cylinder head and specially adapted electronics. The “B” engine kit boosts performance by around 30 bhp without an airbox system. With an airbox system, a gain of some 50 bhp is achieved.

The top-of-the-range “C” engine kit comprises complete MK engines coupled with the best ingredients. In addition to the components from the “B” kit, it includes forged pistons, special MK valves and big end bearings, and super-light racing bucket tappets. A finely balanced crankshaft and flywheel are included, as is increased piston capacity from 2.3 to 2.4 l. Depending on the scope of work undertaken, the MK engine produces between 265 and 295 bhp. Two further upgrades are now available especially for motor racing, which unleash up to 380 bhp through the reinforced MK differential.

MK-Motorsport also offers its own exhaust system developed for the E30 M3 with an MK high-performance header, MK steel catalytic converter, MK exhaust system and either the MK or MK-DTM rear silencer, which adds up to another 15 bhp.

Naturally, MK also supplies a brake system specially adapted to the M3. The high-performance system consists of inside-vented and slotted discs measuring up to 332 mm across, anodized aluminium 4 or 6-piston brake callipers, MK brake linings and steel flex brake lines. MK’s suspension systems are based on motor racing models. It offers a combination of shock absorbers/springs or a range of four coilover suspensions. MK stabilisers and MK strut braces go to complete the suspension range.

Ötigheim-based BMW specialists MK-Motorsport have also given the interior a make-over. Recaro sports seats, optionally in carbon fibre, 4 or 6-point harnesses, various sports steering wheels, aluminium pedals, MK instruments with 300 km/h dial and roll-over bar/cages in aluminium or steel are optionally available.

Thanks to the extensive options offered by its own body department, paint shop, workshops for engine parts and upholstery, MK-Motorsport can retune and customise any vehicle according to the customer’s wishes. Article originally posted on Babez.de! It goes without saying that MK-Motorsport is ISO 9001-certified and supplies all parts with a two-year guarantee and TÜV approval certificate.

^ That's what I was wondering too. Would be totally awesome if they were offering complete cars!
It's probably just an upgrade for existing E30 M3 owners though... right?

I also think they offer only upgrade packages. It is however quite interesting to see them giving a 2 year guarantee on a 15 to 20 year old car.
