Anti lag don't has to be bad for your engine just get yourself a turbo can 1000 degrees celius or more.

They do fuck up your engine. And as an example - the Seat Leon Supercup, with the 250hp 1.8T engine. During the first season everybody was using the bang-bang or "anti-lag" system... but after so many engines blown up - they switched it off since then... and I've never heard it again
Anti lag and seat don't go together.

You need to use a special turbo shaft to handle the heat the anti lag setup makes.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure that's a ridiculously stupid practice to run your car through a 'simulated 1/4 mile run' or whatever the hell they were doing on a dyno. How do you know that the straps won't break? Especially if the car you're doing that with produces a considerable amount of power.

Besides that, as Dani said, what is really the point on a road car?

I was thinking the same thing...what was the deal in hard launching on a dyno? They should have taken it outside to do their run...

Bleh. Eye candy popping flames, but it won't last long.

There are plenty of WRXs and Evos running anti-lag over here, yes long-term it is harmful to your engine. However all these cars (running either Autronic, Motec, PowerFC etc ECU's) have a switch to enable or disable the system - it is NOT something they run everyday on the street during normal driving.

Therefore you can minimise the wear and tear of it by only using it in certain applications - flame throwing contests , drags, track etc.
