Default Omen of the Coming Malaise: Mazda MX-5 wins World's Longest Endurance Race

I can hardly believe this given the stiff competition from before. Last year, the field was dominated by a Daytona Prototype and the same was expected to happen this year, but the DP retired due to a colission with a slower car. Last year, however, had some rivals for the DP including a Factory Five GTM (which finished 4th) and two ethanol powered French-built Norma sports-racing cars that were only beaten by the afforementioned Crawford DP.

I'll have to peruse the entry list some, but it seems that many may have backed down after assuming the DP would just dominate again? Looking over the entry list shows that that wasn't the case as there was another FFR GTM along with another Green Alternative Motorsports Norma. Now I just wonder where they finished and what happened to them.
