that's kind of a tough question to answer.

Which test showed it was the head gasket? If it was the radiator cap test, then it's possible that the rod may have been bent during start up due to coolant leaking into the cylinder, but you would feel a significant power loss.

The oil loss would more than likely cause the rod knock, but once pressure resumed, there is a good chance it would go away depending on how far gone it is.
