The grip levels are imencley high and the 4wd comes in handy on wet surfaces (it has been raining in the last few days....). First you feel the front slipping just a tad, but then the rear comes along for the ride.

Euhm, I know you're the expert and I'm not but I do think the Focus ST is FWD.
