I do believe that red one might be Paul Allans car (him and Bill Gates got matching 959's in 1988 I seem to recall) and the 2000 miles is because the cars spent like 14 years in process to get street legalized.
In those days the EPA was pretty serious about "grey" imports polluting the air and woul dhave had no problem confiscating and destroying the vehicle.
