Actually, as a discerning buyer what
should seperate high end brands from their lowly siblings (and justify th eextra price) is that the car is unique.
The reason the Porsch e924 was a dismal failure is because Porsche fans did not want an Audi assembled Porsche on the cheap - and i believe when Audi simply wraps a Gold/Seat in a badge and lights the car does not do the brand justice.
Funny thing is the rest of the world spent 25 years making fun of Ford, GM and Chrysler for having duplicate but more expensive bretheren across the Ford/Mercury/Lincoln, Chevy/Pontiac/GMC/Cadiallac and Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler ranges.....
but when the rest of the world does it, it is acceptable
