I am assuming you guys have never heard or seen a Diesel Enfield on the road. It used to be sold in India more than a decade back and it was fucking horrible. It was louder than a 18 wheeler, created an absolute racket and was so slow a man riding a bicycle could win a race with it.

Just so you know the top speed was 65 kmh/40 mph and I think to reach that speed it took about 2 mins. And the vibrations from the engine were god awful. The handling well as we all know that Enfield's won't give much competition to even a 125cc learner bike leave alone modern superbikes and with the extra weight of the Diesel engine let's just say the handling was not really "intuitive"! As long as you are going in a straight line its tolerable but the moment there's a corner to take all hell breaks loose! And the weight was around 200 kgs., the petrol Enfield weighs around 168 Kgs. dry.

Somebody asked about gas mileage and this was the only positive point about the bike as it was in the region of around 65 km/litre of diesel.

If I was to chose between riding an Diesel Enfield & walking home, I would walk home everytime
lol!

Well there we have it chaps, first hand experience by the sounds of it. I think if I was going to have a classic styled bike I'd just buy a new Kawa W650 or one of the retro styled triumphs!
