They just haven't been given real offers.
Be honest - no matter how "noble" you claim to be - when someone offers you 7 figures - you sell out.
Why? Because that is the entire point - to get something besides "creative control" back in return.
Either way - it's pointless getting into these "open source" kind of debates...
Remember when the Linux guys had their chance - and they turned the world down? That was 3 years ago - in the mean time Linux based stocks are worth crap - while the Microsofts etal of the world have made yet another billion or 2..
- and the only Linux distros with a future are being dogged by SCO and it's lawyers... LOL.
The free market is an awesome system...
