Default Gallardo Weight... wayyyy heavy?

I had Heffner convert my TT G to a rwd car. The plan is to run it this way for a few months, track it, get a benchmark quarter mile time and do a few top speed runs. I took a spin this morning and the difference in road feel and handling was startling. The car feels lighter, more responsive and more nimble. Gone is that leaden, heavy feel whenever you make steering inputs. The front end of the car is also 125 lbs lighter, so the sense of being firmly planted and in control that you get with awd is also gone. This is now a drivers car and a lot of attention will be needed to keep all four contact patches on the pavement and maintaining grip! icon_mrgreen.gif

I did a few straitline power launches from a 5 mph roll and acceleration is brutallly, stomach churning fast. It is a testament to the rigidity of the Gallardo chassis that the car can handle 756rwhp and not get squirrely and unmanagable off the line. There is a tad of sideways oscillation/tail wagging in first and second, but shit, I expected worse and it was pretty cool. In third gear and up where awd becomes surplus baggage, the power gains are noticable.

We also weighed the car, and in this configuration, with a quarter tank of gas, my G is 3500lbs!! Since, my tubo conversion did not add any net weight (stock exhaust delete=entire tt setup) a stock G is comming in at 3600 to 3700 lbs. Add gas and a 200lb driver and you are at 4000lbs!!

DWiggs was definitely on to something..... these cars are a lot heavier than advertised.
Not surprising...
