The following is a little dramatic event I went through before I was reassured by the dealership owner that indeed, the Orange RS was mine and not sold out from underneath me! It happened over last weekend and I just wanted to relay what I went through last Sunday and Monday! All is well now and I may get the car tomorrow!
This is a little story I have regarding my purchase of the
Orange GT3RS from
Herb Chambers Porsche in Boston, Massachusetts. I purchased the car on Saturday, March 10th, and the following tidbit is what followed the next 2 days and had me a
nervous basket case all day Sunday and Monday morning!!! :shocked!:
I had a PM from one of 6Speedonline's members (not to be named) early Sunday morning giving me some
very disturbing news! He informed me that he had heard from a very reliable source that the Herb Chambers Porsche dealership
had sold the GT3RS out from underneath me
to someone else (also not to be named) for more money than the deal I had made with the owner's son,
George Chambers, on Saturday...... essentially
stabbing me in the back! To say I was POd, mad, freaked out, foaming at the mouth or slightly upset at this news is an understatement!!!
I told the person who sent me the PM, that I had finalized a deal and that as far as I was concerned, it was a
binding oral contract with a man who
gave me his word that the deal was absolutely unbreakable. I even asked him
if we shook hands :good: over the phone to seal this transaction to which he replied...
"We have a deal..... the car is 100% yours!"
What had me
perplexed after receiving the PM was that George, Herb's son, had talked to me as a gentleman and I was convinced he was a man of his word! He spent 15-20 minutes with me on Friday talking about the car and how he said it was not sold and I could still buy it for the right price and then I called him back on Saturday and we spent another 1/2 hour or more BSing and finally closed the deal. Is that the kind of person who would double cross me? I sure as hell hoped not!
Well, Monday morning, I called George at the dealership and asked if everything was OK with the purchase and
he said yes, yes and more yes! He said I was easily approved for the loan and he was even able to find me a
slightly lower interest rate
than the one he had initially quoted me! George then transferred me over to the Finance Manager, who needed conformation of some personal info. Again, sure sounds like a decent and honorable man to me!
Now when the topic of the RS popped up on 6Speed, I read the post with great interest and even ran across a reply or two that said watch out for this person and/or the dealership. This kind of comment is something that is heard over and over again in the automotive industry! Even now, when someone starts BSing me, "I ask them if they used to be a
Used Car Salesman!" Of course those couple of negative posts certainly threw up a red flag for me and I'm sure everyone else who might have had some interest in the Orange RS. I continued reading the posts and kept debating about whether or not I really wanted or needed the car.
I know from being in business myself, that unfortunately,
sometimes rumors (not necessarily vindictive ones)
can start and spread like wildfire. I'm assuming that the one that had made its way to me could have started with a person who
honestly thought they were in the cat bird's seat as far as purchasing the RS.
I'm not pointing fingers at ANYBODY! I can only tell you the buying experience I had at the
Herb Chambers' Porsche Dealership in Boston. I
NEVER once had a uneasy feeling that I was dealing with anything but an honest, respectful, good faith and true to his word person named George Chambers! Maybe someone else did at one time BUT I didn't and that's all I kind report back to you.
I'm certainly glad the info I received turned out to be inaccurate because
it would have freaked me out to lose the RS. :faint: I'm glad George and his father Herb, turned out to be stand-up gentlemen for me and now I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Orange GT3RS.

Sorry for being long winded but I wanted to dispel the possibility of my purchase going the way of Hiroshima and blowing up in my face!
To the person who PMd me, thank you very much for your concern. I appreciate your interest in trying to protect me from a deal gone bad and I'm thankful to you for being a friend online.
To my friends here at
JABBASWORLD, :hello: hopefully I'll be getting my RS very soon and will certainly do a candid review for all of you after I get some decent miles on her. Thanks for all the
kudos on the RS
and for being there when I needed info or just to pass the time of day with each other.
Magwheel
p.s.
Thanks again to George, Herb and Aaron at the dealership for treating me perfect!
