I don't do the angle thing, but I always park miles away from all the other cars - hate dings.
Besides, it is good to get a bit of exercise.
As for practicality, what does that mean - we are a one car family - me, wife and 2 dogs. We have an S2000 and we cope! I can hire a pickup if I need to shift something, the 4 of us will just about fit in the car and it's comfy enough for a trip to walk the dogs or go to the vets.
Sidenote: We have a (wild) rabbit also, and a couple of toads - our dogs like to play with the toads but they soon hop off under the fence...You just don't see wild animals in the UK (I'm English BTW) as most residential areas are long-established and all the wildlife migrated years before I was born...
