Did you try to sharpen the panning shots up during editing? That could explain the strange grain. I've noticed it once when I tried to sharpen a blurry panning shot which would have been great if it was sharp. But during sharpening I saw the grain appearing and I never bothered sharpen panning shots again

I think I did on some of them, but the grain was a problem before doing that. The thing is even on a pic which is perfectly in focus (not blurry) there is still grain.....doesn't make sense.

You've to talk to your camera, dude. Whisper some gentle words into the lens
No really, maybe a firmware update will solve the problem. Did you check some photocamera related sites if this is a common problem with your camera? Maybe people over there have a solution.
