There are 2 or 3 species that do that. one of them is availible as a pet and that's the Goliath Bird Eater Tarantula. 12inch leg span
it was bird eater someting, but it wasnt a dangerous spider as leno was holding it and not worried.

but what i thought was weird was how they caught the birds. they would place web over a hole in the ground and cover it up, and then when the bird walks over the hole, it would fall in and the spider would go into the hole. pretty damn crafty.
Spiders are incredibly crafty. The Trap Door spider covers the ground in non-stick webs, digs out a hole and lines it with the sticky stuff and then pulls a large rock over it leaving only it's leg on one of the webs outside so that it can feel bugs walking in front of it. Once they get close......
