The Evo is quicker around only one track. (And those 2 cars weren't even tested at the same time.) At the Hockenheim club circuit, the Evo VIII loses out to the 344-hp C5 Commemorative Edition by 1.3 seconds. Has it occurred to anyone that the Evo uses supersticky Yokohama Advan A046 tires? The Corvette has crappy Goodyears that allow you to drive 200 miles on a fully deflated tire before it peels off the rim. Not to mention the 47% shorter gearing of the Evo in the 1st 4 gears...
This is just the base Corvette. Funny how you guys want to compare it to a highly tuned track machine like the GT3. (Fastest published times for the Commemorative Edition Z06 at Gingerman Raceway matches those of the current GT3, BTW).
Regarding the Corvette locking up...its stability control and ABS system is set up to allow greater degrees of slippage than most, before intervention.
And no, an NSX is not as quick as a Modena. The Ferrari is generally 1/2 second quicker in the quarter mile, with a fastest of 12.3. No stock NSX has ever been that quick. It's also about 1.5 seconds quicker in the standing mile than the Honda. The old C5 Corvette is about dead even with the NSX (slightly quicker in the standing mile actually). This one with 400 hp should have been even faster. But then, all of these cars in that TG acceleration "test" weren't exactly piloted by the same driver now were they...
