changing avi to mpeg?

how do i change a video that's in .avi format to .mpg format? i tried changing the extention to .mpg, that didn't work. tried to do it with tmpegenc but it would only take the audio and not the video.

try using virtualdub ?

geekdiggy 05-04-2004 07:29 PM

i tried that. maybe it's just me but i don't see a save with mpg option on virtualdub, it only says save as avi

i already tried tmpgenc and it won't work. whenever i drag the file directly into tmpgenc only the audio's file path shows up and the video bar remains blank. when i try to open it with tmpgenc manually by browsing, it says the video is unsupported, i assume it means the file type

bummer :| i wanna change it so i can save it to imagestation (it's only a small 13MB file) for storage purposes. but imagestation only accepts files in mpeg format. damn.

does anybody want me to send them the file so they can figure out what's wrong? :|

Why dont you save it as RAR ? , if its for storage purposes then it would be ok

because imagestation only allows jpegs and mpegs, nothing else. i wanna put it on imagestation just in case my hard drive crashes

If you change teh avi extension to mpeg it will allow you to save it ? or it checks the file ?

geekdiggy 05-10-2004 04:25 AM

changing the extension didn't work
