A1 GP

Wow, could this be the rival of F1

it definitely sounds like a great idea. having only 1 make of A1 car is a good idea i think, and should ensure that the rich teams don't end up so much farther ahead of the less rich teams (such as F1, where the front of the pack obviously has huge gains in performance each year). i hope this turns out to work well, and that the races are exciting and safe :)

This series looks..... well, has some potential, yes, but it does not contribute much to the real world of cars in any way, like F1 does. THe carbon brakes have just begin to make their first appearnaces on the road, like in the Enzo. And BMW is building a V10-engined M5 to establish a direct link with their F1 programme.

This might be entertaining for sure. BUt the cream of the crop will always rise to the surface, no matter what. Better to encourage competition, AND technological advancement, rather than just competition alone.

It looks like it may be an interesting series, but compete with F1? No way, F1 may be having issues at the moment but I don't think these guys will do it much better. I think F1's best competition at the moment is CART, and if they survive the next couple years, they can capitalize on Formula one's downfalls.[/img]

3.5 v6 with 485hp, NO WAY!!!!!

I have to disagree with you on that, I really don't think you can compare
F1 to CART, I think this has a better chance.

how can you compare a 900hp ferrari/bmw/merc to a 485hp a1??

he7lius 04-07-2004 07:50 PM

Isn't this what the football club in Europe tried to create??
If i'n not mistaken there are teams like Benfica, AC Milan Chesea, Juventos, etc.

I think it was Premier GP.

well f1 cars have 3.0 (2999cc) and no one is claming over 900hp for this year but toyota, everyone else is around 850-875, but these A1 cars are running on 18" wheels that is huge in open wheel cars.

Wow, that is a nice website.

This could be used as another farming system into F1. Or even current F1 drivers could use it to honed their skills, kinda like winter league baseball.

Should be good stuff.

EDIT:

I too think this has a better chance than CART. First because it is more internationalized, i.e. FIA sponsered (European based). And second just the fact that it is being raced in more countries.
