Technical Specifications of the Maserati GranSport

BODYWORK

A stress-bearing steel monocoque with both the external panels and box-section superstructure are galvanised-coated on both sides, two-door coupé, four seater, longitudinal front engine, rear wheel drive. Cx 0.33.

CHASSIS

Chassis made from high resistance galvanised steel with a rear tubular sub-chassis to support the suspension and gearbox, and a front tubular sub-chassis to support the suspension and engine.

SUSPENSION

Front: double wishbones with arms and hubs in forged aluminium; progressive rate steel dampers or optional continuously variable aluminium gas dampers with adaptive damping and acceleration sensors on each wheel (Skyhook system), co-axial coils and springs.

Rear: double wishbones with arms and hubs in forged aluminium, additional radius arm to control toe-in; progressive rate steel dampers or optional continuously variable aluminium gas dampers with adaptive damping and acceleration sensors on each wheel (Skyhook system), co-axial coils and springs.

TRANSMISSION

Transaxle architecture with longitudinal Maserati gearbox rigidly connected to the engine. Mechanical six-speed Cambiocorsa transmission with electro-hydraulic operation and electronic management operated by paddles behind the steering wheel., triple cone synchronisers 1st and 2nd, and double cone on 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.

Gear shift ratios: 1st 3.286; 2nd 2.158; 3rd1.609; 4th 1.269; 5th 1.034; 6th 0.816; Reverse 2.733. Asymmetrical limited-slip differential (25% under acceleration, 45% on lift-off), hypoid bevel gear pair, final drive 3.73 (11/41).

Dry twin-plate clutch, diameter 215 mm (8.46 in) with flexible couplings and hydraulic control.

Steel 20 mm driveshaft flexibly supported on four bearings in an engine-gearbox connection pipe.

Maserati Stability Programme (MSP) stability control with Bosch ASR, MSR and ABS.

90° V8, crankcase and cylinder heads in hardened aluminium silicon alloy. Crankshaft in refined forged steel, balanced individually on five main bearings.
Chain-driven twin overhead camshafts per cylinder bank command four valves per cylinder with hydraulic tappets.

Dry sump lubrication in unit with cooling pump.

Bosch integrated ignition-injection system, electronic drive-by-wire acceleration control.

great info man! but I don't get the purpose of the car, It's still 1680kg!! little aero and hp added... the performance is the same (a little bit better) than the standard version.. I don't get it

I still can't understand why the americans need to have such ugly backlights ... stupid regulations ... give me the old lights ... or at least in Europe :-)

I never understood why they changed the rear lights...the old ones looked more exotic...these look like a hyundai could have them...why did they change them?

Basically they said the public found them "to exotic" .. but WTF ?!?!?!? I never ever knew somebody who didn't like the 3200GT rear lights.. I have no idea where Maserati heard that...

i like alot the front but i liked the old back lights better, that doesnt make it uglier, i still like the new one better
