Can't they set V-tec so it is always active? Or can you get an aftermarket product that would do it?

Variable Valve timing at above 6000 rpm or so. I think.

Read the link. It only works above a certain rpm. The engine must be working at a certain speed to benefit from the valve opening before the intake phase.

So your aware. Basically your switching the cams. A lower cam wont be optimal for a higher speed and vice versa. They are working on constantly variable systems.

The reason hondas dont have low power though is directly related to design of the engine cylinders.
