Veredict:

Both are real sports cars, the Porsche to the extreme offering the best handling, better performance as you can see by the speeds achieved at the handling track and race track, it beats the Z06 easily also due to the semi-slicks that come as standard. Compared to the GT2 the Z06 is a bargain as it costs 100k less than the Porsche whcih also can be regarded as collector´s item as it will stay at that high price even as pre-owned car but not the Corvette.

Nothing new. The Porsche is faster and more focussed and a bit more extreme too than the Vette... but the Z06 is by far the best bang-for-the-buck car you can buy today ;-)

They only need to improve the interior. :-P

Oh please who cares about interiod.
I would love see this test of both cars have semi slick tires.
:-D

Thanks for the article gangajas. I think that some Z06 are faster than this one tested but it's true that the new GT2 is really astounding. Can't wait to see if the 430 Scuderia holds its promises ...

the facts sheet in higher res plz?:-)

nice test, just proves again the the ZO6 is a great car. wouldn't say no to either of them.

Well done Porsche AG. the new 997 GT2 is the best...but a bit overpriced over the 997 turbo model. ;-)

Little surprise with GT2's performance, but Z06 is great value for money that's for sure. Bring on 430 Scuderia!!

no way the gt2 is that much faster 0-62. i thought the z06 was under 4 seconds as well..

If the tester isn't apt with balancing clutch and throttle, too much tire spin will occur. A c6 Z06 is capable of 3.7- 3.9 with a good launch. The GT2 is a bit more idiot-proof being the weight is directly over the driven wheels. I also wouldn't doubt it is capable of 3.5 to 62 mph with a good launch.

The Ford GT is about as idiot-proof as the 911 is, with the weight over the driven wheels.... its tough to not have a launch below 4 seconds to 62 mph!

gangajas 11-21-2007 01:16 PM

You also have to consider that the GT2 has Launch Control
