Damn.....Hennessy doesn't F around....

It looked like the hood was going to come off that thing. I guess the Viper designers didn't design their car for those kind of speeds...

TNT 07-31-2007 11:24 PM

well the hood i believe was swapped out for a lightweight racing hood so there is less support then the standard hood. thus all the movement.

don't forget, the Viper doesn't cost $1.5 Million either. People can spank the Veyron if they so choose for mere pocketchange compared to the Veyron's cost. And, many of the people who own a Veyron also own big power 'vettes and Vipers etc.

Different cars do different things.

that said... there is a car I did some work on recently that makes the 1000 Venom TT look slow :) But... you'll have to wait til C+D do their article :)

true there but as with the veyron the viper and vettes are normally more user friendly then other cars when tuned to run at speeds like this. and the quaility is fair better then the weekend bolt on tuner.

christ,thats a bit quick.
how much would it cost to have something like that fully running, including buying the car new, paying for the modifications and the cost to have them fitted?

I've always loved the Venom vipers, and last year it also won car & drivers supercar challenge, and even got comments for the very streetable ride and tune compared to the other cars.

it also made a walkover at the king of the hill cometition

What kind of work do you do?

I sometimes wonder myself 8) I'd post photos and video, but I'm under contract not to.

What have I done in the past? (get paid for)
Data analyst and research fellow, quality engineering/reliability, photography, event planner, warehouse lackey, Cashier, book keeper, Service Coordinator, GM, and (small) business owner... I was a bum for a bit... to some small degree, I had a hand in design/architecture, RFI...

Depends on the day ;) What was I doing working on a 'record car' ? If it doesn't work, nothing haha... but I'll be doing some more testing on this car, and another record kind of car in december :)

as an asside

Just finished washing, clay, and waxing my own car... Too bad it's nothing special... but the paintwork hasn't looked this good in a verrry long time.... Me loves the high gloss finish on a black car :)

So, nth, you are a kind of free lance guy, huh?

Yes, thats a good way of putting it :)

I'll tell you, when I first got the Jeep, the only time I would let it be dirty was after some off road excursion through the mud in some red-taped development... but over the last year, I've been going few and far between even generic car washes... nothing so meticulous as a hand wash, and full detailing... so this is the first wax I've done in as much time.

Even leaving the car alone for 5 minutes outside, there is a visible film of dust on it.. so yeah, black is a total PAIN... but for those 5 minutes, its the sexiest color in the world ;).

I'd like to have seen a drag between them.

Kulstad 08-01-2007 01:21 PM

Wow, the Bugatti was faster to 1 mile. Once again great acceleration numbers from the Veyron with all that weight. Amazing car.

check the other thread, this is an old Venom 1000 TT....

the Bugatti's superior insta-traction helps it tremendously have a 2 second advantage at 100 mph.
