Damn.. I am so out of the car scene here in New England.

Karcs, you mind giving me a heads up next time there's a public event like this around the Boston area?

chest3r 06-19-2007 10:00 AM

^^ Yeah, in the first pic it reminds me the Ford GT.... It's a bit ugly!!

franck bullitt 06-19-2007 10:01 AM

Gotta love the look of a mid mounted LS7 on space frame!!

Also doesn't hurt when a GT3 transaxle is there as well. :D

no problem. I try and keep a list of local events here:
http://necarcentral.com/events.php

I certainly don't have them all though. There's a lot of good shows at the Museum of Transportation in Brookline. Check out www.mot.org to see their lawn event calendar. They also have the Ferrari F2002 inside right now. I got a couple pics of it on sunday.

factory 5 makes a bunch of kit cars.. bodys made in south africa with Chevy engines. They have a ford gt kit and a cobra kit among others. They also have that one wild creation based off a c6 chasis. They typically build their kits off of donor cars I think.

RC45 06-19-2007 07:52 PM

I was under the impression CAV was the South African GT40 kit producer, and Factory 5 was all US made bits and pieces... and I think they use the C5 as a donor for the GTM, using a custom tube frame.

graywolf624 06-19-2007 08:04 PM

You are correct on both accounts.. The factory 5 is the one from the US and it is a c5 donor. I had an 8 hour meeting today and an 8 hour meeting yesterday for work.. My brain is fried.. don't mind me.

Very nice pictures, thanks karcs!

I really love the GTM! I don't care if it's a GT40 wannabe, it looks great from all angles, even the interior is spot on. And with a powerplant like the LS7 and Porsche GT2 gearbox it has to be a heck of a driver's car! Not too sure about the build quality though.

The whole idea behind factory five is that you can buy one of their kits and a parts car (usually a 1984-2004 Mustang) and then be able to build an entire car. They started out with their cobra replica. They are on their third rendition so it is known as the MKIII. Factory Five works much more closely with ford than chevy. If you go to the ford racing parts site, there's even a picture of the FF MKIII roadster next to the mustang in a line up of fords.

They make a Cobra replica, Shelby Daytona Coupe replica, a spyder (which is like a daytona coupe convertible), and the GTM (which uses Corvette parts mated with a porsche transaxle using a custom FF piece). No GT40 replica is made. There kits are light and you can build them as wild as you want. I'm still dreaming of an MKIII roadster with a 550 hp Ford 408 in it. :P
