P-51 Mustang doing a flyby
Mustang does a low pass at 350 knots. Turn your speakers up and listen to that amazing Rolls Royce Merlin engine growling! (Same engine as the Spitfire)
Although the Spitfire is my most favorite WW2 plane this is the best fighter plane of that era IMO! |
I've met one of the few WWII aces still alive that piloted a P-51. Lt. Col. Empey USAAF and heard his stories first hand of how he took down German ME-109's and JU-88's over Europe. He said if it weren't for the P-51 he may have been taken out long ago. His plane was known as the Little Ambassador and to hear a WWII fighters story is amazing.

^^ I can believe that, Im always fascinated by the dog-fight stories! And the Spitfire may have saved Britain, but the Mustang won the war!

^^ Very nice :D
Rather see an old Warplane in action then one of those Redbull airraces planes.. |
The sound of the Merlin engine has really its own sound characteristic. :)
BTW, my favorite WW2 piston-engine will be always the Focke-Wulf 190D-9...Horrido ! |
Awesome video, I love the sound of a Merlin V-12 roaring past! :D

Some guy owns one at the airport I work at. The first time he took off I was inside and that sound was unmistakable. I ran out so fast, my co-workers were amazed I knew what it was just by the sound.
