I would also like to see that documentary. I hope someone will find a link somewhere.
Is it just me or were Mäkinen's dominant years less boring than Loeb's dominance of the last years? Mäkinen always had a fight till the end of the season, like the famous RAC of 1998 with Sainz and the 1 point difference with McRae in 1997. |
There was a nice autobiography book available a couple of years ago in Finland.
Maailmanmestari: Tommy Makinen! by Lasse Erola.Bought it in Helsinki in 2000. Do you know that? Nico |
Yeah Makinen was one of all time favorites too, he had a different and very interesting style!
Nice to hear he's still doing stuff rally-related! Funny thing was, that Hakkinen was my favourite F1 driver, Hakkinen and Makinen LOL  |
/\/\ Yeah hard to believe really

/\/\ Nice to hear but that is expensive indeed :(

I think the Mitsubishi definitely was basically a winning car from 1996 to 1999. The second drivers of the team let them down on the manufacturer championship. Mäkinen was in 1996 the only regular group A driver of the Mitsubishi works team. The second Mitsubishi works driver was a part time job for Uwe Nittel and the young Richard Burns. Uwe Nittel let the team down on scoring points which definitely cost them the manufacturers title. Burns on the other hand did quite a good job by finishing many times as fourth and even second in the Safari. The 1998 season was Mitsubishi's best season. Mäkinen won 5 rallys and Burns 2. 1999 was the year of Freddy Loix as a second driver and he only managed to finish 5 rallys with championship points. |
^^ Dani was wrong!?!
