/\/\ Indeed!

It was cool just like the Supra but the ricers wrecked their image!

Uncool

still cool, fortunately tese cars have been kept out of the hands of ricers due to the price. well here in the us at least.

ViperASR 02-18-2007 05:57 PM

the reliability of the motor makes it uncool for me. Also, they stole the design for the original RX-8 from the Porsche 944

gucom 02-18-2007 06:05 PM

ricers suck ass... but an original 1 is pretty cool :)

taygunho 02-27-2007 05:34 AM

cool.

Stoopie 02-27-2007 05:46 AM

cool, always like that car and it still turns my head!

stracing 02-27-2007 05:54 AM

they're still nicely done up here

i think they're still cool. still brings a giggle when you tell them it has a wankel engine

Cool car!

It was a giant killer in its day. Built for performance and handling with emphasis on low weight. Its looks good to me.

As a used car buy, the rotary engine might be an issue from an emissions standpoint. Other than that is is fantastic value for <$15K.

very very cool in my book! 8)

Uncool, unfortunately it became one of the favourite cars for tuners, which is not nice. There are others exmaples, like said before here, like the Supra, Lancer Evo...

Great cars. I've owned 4 of them and have yet to drive anything that is as much fun as a 400rwhp+ RX7. At 2,700lbs it feels more like a go-cart with a giant engine than a passenger car. They are extremely rare (~11,000 total in the US), have a unique engine design (hand built I might add), and look fantastic.

The reliability thing is and is not true. The motor is not at all forgiving when it comes to detonation, so if it is not tuned properly it is much more likely to fail than a piston motor. I have seen a lot of them destroyed by shops and people chasing supercar power on a student budget. On the other hand if they are setup correctly they are extremely durable when driven hard. This is one of the reasons formula Mazda is so popular.

2-rotor RX7s =Cool
3-rotor RX7s =Subzero
