not too surprising. Did people really think that extra money was buying them "far superior" build materials? Porsche is similar to Hollister (or whatever trendy shirt designer) as you don't just pay for the product but the brand name as well.

Holy shit no way? :wink: I will admit they are over priced but then again I bought my car knowing they were. Would I of liked it if the pricing was lower, shit yeah i do! I would think the biggest profits though would be from the 911 variants and Cayennes(especially since they share the VW platform). One reason why some enthusiasts buy the cars is for the name and what that name represents say for example what other company has accomplished such a list of wins:

Forgot to mention check out a Porsche order guide sometime and you will see why my car is near base model "S" rather than optioned. I wouldn't pay the amount for some of that stuff as much as I like it...like some Carbon Fiber eye candy ;)

Well holy cow...who knew?! How long has Porsche been making money? "Far and away the world's most profitable car manufacturer" is making lots of money on every car they sell, what a shock! If people are willing to pay that much for the cars then are they really that overpriced?

How much do GM, Ford, and Chrysler make on each large SUV and pick-up truck they sell? I've heard anywhere from $5,000-$15,000 in straight profit off of a $25,000-$45,000 vehicle, but people are willing to pay it, is that overpriced too?

Remember in the early 90s Porsche was about to go bankrupt. It wasn't until the 996 & Boxster that pushed back into profitability.

You need info on how many cars they sell , how many c2 and how many turbos , but i dont think the turbo is more than 20% more expensive to make than a standard c2 , so that should gave them a loooot of money to them , thats why they have so many variants of expensive cars , the turbo , the turbo S , charging even more for every option ,. Still they are considered great value for money by the reviewers ...
