Dec 26: Day after Xmas run with the Lambo Club

The Lambo Club of Houston traditionally host a back country run on the Dec 26th. An invitation was extended to the Ferrari club as well. I jumped at the opportunity to run with the bulls in a matter of speaking ... :)

About 14 cars showed up:
- Lamborghinis: VT, SV and VT Roadster
- Ferraris: 360 coupe and Spider, 512TR, 355 B, 348 TS, 550M
- Porsche: Boxster S and 911 4S
- Maserati - no .. make that De Tomaso: 2 Panteras
- Others: Audi TT, MB C55 AMG

Lining up to start the run - traffic in the mirrors never looked so good

After about 1.5 hours of spirited running over great roads I have never been on before, we stopped over for a much needed break - it was 40F outside - there was a long queue to get into the restroom. :)

Took some time to take pictures and look over the Lambos a little more closely.

My brother rode shotgun with me and took all the on the move pictures. I took the stationary shots.

The Lambo V12s sound superb - deep throated roar. The 512TR has a tubi - perhaps the best sounding car in the pack. Hooaah! The blue Pantera was LOUD - the owner was wearing earbuds to protect his ears  - superb sound. The Porkers, MB and TT were running on batteries it seemed - couldn't hear their engines during the run :)

The 348 does OK. The Diablos are very fast on the straights but are not that wieldy on the curves. The fastest car there given the road conditions would have been the Gallardo but the driver was not willing to go that fast.

The driver makes a big difference on these roads. The fastest cars on the run was the Boxster S, 512TR and C55 AMG - the drivers knew the roads really well and could go flat out where rest of the folks lifted off.

This was my first experience at speed in the 348 - so I took it easy. I got to about 130 though (fictitious speed of course ;) ) :)

I meant De Tomaso! :)

Ferrari 12s (flat or Vee) are really special sounding - particularly the older ones - Daytona, 512BB, TR. 8) The 550 sounds insipid unless it has a tubi.

The Diablo wheels look heavy to me. Can you re-post the TR with the diablo wheels - I cant remember it.

RC45 12-30-2006 12:29 PM

Looks like you had a nice run... by the looks of the pictures y'all went through the same area we normally go through - and the Richards Grocery Store sign is a bit of a give away ;)

But - if you have been shown a few nice new twisty back roads you better share them... :P

Did anyone get any flyby video of the V12's?

upon looking more closely, his wheels don't have the grove in the spokes like the SV does... but similar anway, oh... and the rears aren't the deep well style either.

Those are Speedline wheels - Jerry W's car correct? - I have seen it on Fchat! I thought he wanted to sell that car about a year back! I have no idea what wheels are on the Diablo

RC - No videos!

considering he's working on the major himself this winter; I have a feeling he won't be selling it all that soon. We're meeting up for another er.... meeting in January; but i don't think i'll see the TR until the spring drives. Yes, it is Jerry's car
