FERRARI V.S. PORSCHE
 

hey tt read this first before you decide to lock this hehe.

ok, being a porsche fan ive been very dissapointed by the way many members view ferraris and porsches. now being completely subjective might be ok in some cases. but in this topic i wanna hear everybody's 2 cents. i dont want any subjective feelings in here, i just want technical stuff. (wow i cant seem to explain myself to clearly) no "well the exhaust sounds really really nice" or "i love the way those intakes are positioned, it makes it look so agressive." after a thorough objective discussion i'll just say when its time for the opinions and stuff. since the cgt isn't out yet, the very popular enzo, cgt comparison won't be entirely fair so lets just keep outta that cuz we dont know shit bout the cgt yet. (0-60 in 3.9 my ass, the 993 turbo can get that, porsche always so god damn honest). so let the facts flow in! (that is if tt hasn't locked this thread, plz plz plz dont):D :D

Enzo's are hideous, and not new at all. We aren't judging the CGT in comparision, at least I'm not! Cause I'm special. *strut*

I don't think it's a question of technical nature that draws people to ferrari's.It's a special emotion, a passion for there cars. I think technically both marques have cars to be proud of. I'm a fan of the F1 paddle systems so in that respect porsche is a little behind.For me porsche have always been cold sterile cars. And yet when I hear a CGT rev it's engine it practically gives me goose bumps. It's easy to compare specs between cars.I have no problem if someone prefers porsche's that's fine with me.In the end were really in the same camp anyway.The love of performance cars.Whether you get there with Italian style or german engineering
in the end both crave the same thing.

the problem is that 'emotion' is the deciding factor at all levels in the car industry.
When you just strip all th eemotion from the discussion and consider just the bare figures on technical specification, performance, maintenance costs & fuel economy we would all be driving a Toyota. But, luckily, we aren't :fadein:
It's a bit like comparing Italian emotion with the German grundlichheit. You musn't do that, just combine the best of both worlds like Ferrari is doing since did 1990 :fadein:

im sorry i didnt specify to clearly. you guys have a point w/ emotion interfering. i wanna know stuff like i think that paddles not only are better and easier to use for the average driver but is fast to change gears also. put SOME emotion in but not too much. i dont want it to be all stats. i want it to be a bit of opinion and stats and personal experience. sorry did not specify to well in the beginning.

Porsches are more reliable than Ferraris. Porsche is a True drivers car, Ferrari is too but mostly a show off car! Reason why people dont really drive their ferraris is cus one if the shit breaks down, money is alot. and two u cant drive them in the winter!

Okay on performance the Enzo is the winner, and so are many others. Stricly on performance and figures Ferrari IMO always had the edge. More BHP, more top speed, faster acceleration......

He just said lets not do that yet b/c the CGT isnt out and no "official" tests have been run.

The CGT has a high downforce setup. This means that it will beat the
Enzo on normal tracks (Hochkenheim & "nordscleife") + it's a Porsche :lol:

they're both a lil dissappointing when compared to a McLaren F1. After more than 10 yrs, BOTH porsche and ferrari should be able to produce a car that weighs under the F1's 2600 lbs and more than the F1's 630 hp.

Anyways, I'd take the enzo cuz it looks more exotic. the CGT's front end looks too much like a boxster/911.

wow snacky,..........high expectations there.

ferraris, is a better car, but porsche is more of a fun, get dirty in it, reliable car.
ferrari is clean, ..preatty much a sickening show of money and style.


god they are both great cars...... but id take a porsche cause its a drivers car. like soeone said :) not putting down the ferrari in any way :D

The CGT has a high downforce setup? and the Enzo? at 300km/h it produces roughly 800kg of downforce, I mean 800KG!!!! In a road car!

The only problem is that Ferrari and Porsche couldn't make a car like the F1 practically. It would be way too expensive. And even though it is 10 years old, the F1 is still built in much the same way as the Ferrari is anyhow. There is no new material for ferrari to use, no sucessor to carbon fiber, to help reduce weight and not too much, new, complicated trickery to eek more horsepower out of the engines. The F1 is still the most amazing car in the world.

Regarding downforce;

I have to admit that I can't remember which magazine that quoted W. Rörl
- but in referral to the performance of the Enzo, it was said that the CGT had
a more aggressive downforce setup, compared to the Ferrari.

Comparing downforce numbers at 300 km/h is not going to tell you much!
- how many tracks have long curves, which can be handeled at those speeds?

But I guess we have to wait until both Porsche and Ferrari alows somebody
to test their cars, during similar conditions.... :roll:
