It seems like just the rear caught. I wonder if they will total it or not, cuz that would be a mean engine and tranny swap into another car

ups, on fire. i'm not sure if it makes sense to rebuild the car... i guess you'll be able to buy some vette parts on ebay soon...

evoWalo 11-14-2006 01:12 PM

brilliant build quality. 8)

This story has a number of versions, many of which make no sense.

The bottomline is that any modern car with remote oil reservoirs and a high pressure distributed oil cooling systems can catch fire in an instant.

Oh - havent a bunch of F-cars and Lambos been all burned up recently as well?

Looks like Jeremy Clarkson was wrong when he said it could "outrun the fuel that powers it"

No cars perfect, just unlucky maybe... wouldn't stop me from buyiing one if I had the coin :)

BADMIHAI 11-14-2006 03:24 PM

I guess they call it a "hot Corvette" for a reason.

Exactly, and all it takes is one guy forgetting to properly tighten up a union and thats it, hot oil on even hotter exhaust pipe, up she goes.

Not a matter of build quality IMO, that is the design in my eyes, this kind of thing is more a product of who has been working on the car!! :|

I hear about more Ferrari's literally melting onto the street more than I hear about Z06 blowin up ;)

Either way, damn that must suck.
