Modern Marvels: Tomcat Sunset
 

Just got done watching it.

Goes through the history of the Navy's best known plane, from the F-111 and the problems that Northup-Grumman encountered and learned from to build the Mach 2.4 fear inducer :D All the way to it's retirement ceremony in September of this year.

712 built for the US Navy in it's 32 year career, plus (this i didn't know) 79 for Iran during the Nixon Administration.

During the retirement footage i think i got a little nostalgic seeing as this is the one plane that i've grown up admiring. I think i was 8 when i first saw it in Top Gun, and that X-mas, built the F-14 model. I think i'm going to go get another one and actually paint it this time :lol:
