Cool indeed, so black represents the viens according to my understanding.

Actually its the opposite of cool.. it is the dawn of the new "false" imagery.

What you see is what the computer processed and projected back on the subject - so you could be misdiagnosedif the doctor sees a "realtime projection" of a bogus result.

Or - worse yet, unscrupulous facilities could falsify imagery for monetery gain... ;)

It is projected back at "real time"... or pretty damn close enough to it.

The device shoots out waves that are absorbed by certain tissue inside of the body, waves bounce back to the device which then computes it and projects back (using a DLP projector) the image back on the to patient.

Thats pretty cool :)
