I may be very long read but very interesting the owners seems to kown his stuff.
And i think this one the best car related things i have ever read.

One of the better topics on the internet in my opinion...yg60m, you'll need to set aside a few hours to read it all, but its worth it! You will have a new understanding of the F1, knowing a lot more of its faults, but at the same time understand even more how great and one of a kind car it is, if that makes any sense! :D 8)

This is why i still love the mclaren f1 still the best supercar ever made bar none.
And i kown the mclaren f1 is not perfect but what car really is??

pitty it has its faults, when they could've been engineered out; particularly at that price ;)

That would have happend if they build more cars.
And their is plan was to build 300 or so cars but they made that goal.
So it's now up to the owners to engineer the faults out of the car.
But it will be perfect with newer updated suspension setup and the new brakes.
This was mclaren first true roadcar before the f1 the made only racing.
So they where at the time not to skilled in making a decent roadcar.
Anyway it's now 15 year old car whit some updates it can still be one hell of a car.

so a car that is poorly engineered is ideal, whereas a completed car that is designed to last a lifetime, and is just as fast isnt?

and what about the issues of longetivity with Carbon Fibre chassis, they are still unproven in the long haul...

Of course poorly engineered car is not ideal but one that is 100% completed.
The forgot the concept is now al 15 years old and some work to make it update.
I can't comment on the longetivity of carbon fibre chassis.
But if it was titanium chassis the longetivity would be very short.

But if you update your mclaren f1 whit a new suspension setup new brake setup and maby a engine remap for the current newer high octane fuel you now can get in some parts of europe.
Now you have mclaren that hold it's own on the road and on the track.
