you are thinking engine mods and so on, not handling right? isn't that car supposed to handle like its on rails out of the box? anyway, i don't think there are that many for it.

nchs09 01-03-2004 12:46 AM

it handels preatty good to be a cheap car + front wheel drive.

i know it handles better than the competition (the ones on its price range) but it DOES NOT handle like its on rails

i want mods like exauhst. thats preatty much what im loking for, but no RICE style 30 inch tailpipe..

You're in luck...check out:
http://flyinmiata.com/protege/
Everything from exhaust to full out turbo kits!

Bill is a terrific tuner and has been featured in Car&Driver and SCC mags.
I have one of his turbos on my 1.6L Miata, which is now dynoing at 280RWHP.

rofl, thanks man but non of them fit my car.. i have a 1.8 not a 2L, i2l is the biggest engine u can get now, but back in 99 it was the 18

Looks like you will need to go custom. Not that difficult, actually.
Just pick a muffler you like the sound of (if you don't want to go ricer, then the Dynomax ones are nice, perform well, and are cheap), and head to a muffler shop to do the install (find one that does mandrel bends). You pick the tip you want, and viola! Custom perf. exhaust.

AEM has a short ram intake system too

sickx 01-14-2004 12:45 PM

If you're not going to go forced induction, there really is nothing worth putting your money into-- intake+headers+exhaust will net you MAYBE 10 horsies in the real world. Is it something you can feel? MAYBE. actually, most people can't feel it, but they insist that the car is faster because it is LOUDER.

nchs09 01-15-2004 12:48 AM

well i dont want to make my car louder...... and i wish there were turbos and what nots for my car. but there isnt. so i know i wont be able to boost my power, so what im thinkin now is of only doin handling upgrades. also i want a momo wheel, and a couple of race seats, but its kindda hard doin that with out making your car look RICE

sickx 01-15-2004 07:26 PM

Not my preference, but NOS is a fairly simple solution, and lots of bang for the buck.

As far as looking RICE, I wouldn't worry about it as long as you don't put on non-functional wings/body/coffee-can exhaust tips.
