I wish they would have a dif. that allowed you to put all the power to the rear wheels when you wanted to. If it had that, then there would be no reason for everyone not to buy and evo
|
^ thats actually a good idea, have your own choice between a FF RWD or AWD car :P
So when does this car come to the UK :D |

Nah, it only has the option to vary the torque split between 50/50 and something like 35/65 (F/R). But it's always AWD.

I believe you can do that for GT-R's AWD system
|
There is no car that has that function. The closest you will ever get is an R34 Nissan Skyline GTR.
Apparently it would be unreliable or something, because I dont know why no one had done that yet. It would be great to have a car to get sideways for some drifting, yet when you get in some snow or rain shift it to AWD mode for safety. If I get into Ford or BMW as an engineer, like I hope to, i am going to try to push the idea!!!! |

Actually that car is based off of a RWD platform, but you you cant hit a switch and get complete 100% rear wheel drive 100% of the time. When you dont need extra tractions it gives you 100% rear wheel drive, but the second you need it it shifts some power to the front.
Edit I didnt know they had an aftermarket switch for it..........Dont tell me that, that makes me want one even more :( |
Yea it's something about there's a wire you can hook a switch up to and it can switch from RWD to AWD, and vice versa, on the fly just like that.
|
iirc the impreza's implementation is far more primitive than that of the skyline
|
I guess the drifting scene has get into ppl's head too much. A RWD car in general will have a shaper response than an AWD, not really becoz it can get the tail out further.
Drifting in snow, wet tarmac is actually much more forgiving than in the dry. |
Funny that they are bringing it to the states first when they used to never set foot(tire) on US land until the EVO7. They really need to make a coupe version..
