Hello to everyone on this forum - take a look at my pictures

Hi there,

My name is Tim and I am 31 years old and live in the United Kingdom.
I am a passionate amateur photographer and spend most of my weekends attending various events across the UK. Most of my time is spent photographing cars including both road going cars and cars used for Motorsport.

The Camera I currently use is an Olympus E500 Digital SLR which I bought in May 2006. Previous to this many of my photos were taken using my Canon EOS300V film camera.
I have enjoyed making the switch to digital as it means I can take lots more pictures and also means I can edit the photos once they are uploaded into my PC.

Please have a good look through my albums and be sure to post any comments in this thread.

I have recently attended the following events: -

Welcome abord! Don't have time to check everything out, but is there a trick or do we only get microscopic pics on that website? Is there a way to have the highres in there or not? Honestly, 600 pixels or so is a bit ridiculous to appreciate good car pics :bah:

Hi there,

On both of the websites I use if you click on the 'microscopic' pictures you will be shown a larger version.

Hope this helps.

What TT ment is hires like 1024*768 is a standart for JW and pics on your site are 600*somthn or so. Do you have bigger pics? :)

Hi there,

All of the pictures are taken using a digital SLR and are therefore high-res. I have uploaded them as smaller images due to the huge number of pictures and the sheer size of the pics. Each picture comes from my camera at 2mb and I take approx 200 at a time, it would take forever to upload them if I kept the standard resolution. I can post some at high-res if you wish, but I would need to know which ones.

I just wanted to give people an idea of the pics I take, my apologies if the small resolution is no good for you guys.

Regards

Tim

Well, we all use digicameras or SLR and we all resize our pics :D but one thing is resize them at 1024, 1280 or 1600 (my and others' case), another thing is to resize at 600 :( barely enough to understand what car is in the pics.
That said, if you have a 56k connection I can sure understand

photoshop rules the day....

use TT's photoshop guide here, and you'll see what we mean....

basically, i use 1600x1067 for the web, and save at the 7 setting to save on bandwith.

MIHALS 06-27-2006 07:24 PM

yep, but that's just if you have some time

I don't know how much takes to TT to edit one picture, I do it from 1 minute to 30 minutes (if I want supa pic  ). so the last meeting - 174 pics (see my signature) took me about 8-10 hours (didn't count it) including editting colours, levels, contrast, resize, blanking reg plate, sharpening, saving, renaming, uploading and putting here on JW

Welcome aboard. You have an impressive collection of shots, but I must echo what everyone here has said. You are correct when saying that they were high-res shots when taken, but once resized they lost that resolution and are now low-res. With such stunning shots being resized to such a small resolution, you lose so much of the detail. These cars demand to have every little detail seen in full glory. You can resize them to 1600 and still keep the bandwidth pulled from your site to a reasonable level. This is a site of enthusiasts and admirers and to lose so much detail pains us. Please don’t take what we have said the wrong way. We are happy to have another on board with a passion for these fine exotics. Please enjoy your stay.

Very true, but in this case the time used wouldn't have changed. When those shots were resized to their current size it simply would have been a matter of using a higher resolution.

I think what most of us do is, instead of uploading every pic we take, or close to that, and then resizing them to very small, we pick a few (well relative 'few' haha) of our very favorite pictures, and make them a large res (1600x1200 or something) and just upload those. If you do that, then you will use about the same bandwidth, and have nice big pictures for us...and in a sense only show your very best pictures. :D 8)

Really nice pics by the way dude, although there are so many its a little daunting to look at them all...another reason to cut down the number of pics you upload. ;)

And, I almost forgot, welcome to JW man! :D

Hi there,

Many thanks to those of you who have replied.
I have taken on board the remarks about picture sizes and will look at using these settings in the future.

I have uploaded one picture using the suggested settings, please click the thumbnail and let me know what you think.
