What does DB stand for...?

I have a friend that keep asking me about cars which I have some knowledge of, or atleast I thought I had...

He asked me what the two letters (D & B) stood for on the aston's DB9... can someone help me out here? I don't have a clue....

A guy named David Brown once owned the company and DB are his initiials. Owners have changed but the name stays the same.
