Vehicle Tested: 2007 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500 2dr Coupe First Impressions: Despite its cost (and weight) increase, the latest SVT Mustang sets a new standard in "bang-for-the-buck" bragging rights. 500 horsepower 480 pound-feet of torque Zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds $43,000 http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/1...00.f34.500.jpg |
Might be powerful, but the interrior quality may have well have come from a Japanese econobox and for a car with 500 hp to get to 60 in 4.5 sec, thats pretty pathetic. A regular C6 400 hp corvette can do that.
3920 lbs??? Thats about 700 lbs more than the C6. Sub-quality parts have been used to save on price. "The GT used an aluminum block with a dry-sump oil system and an Eaton "screw-type" supercharger creating 13.5 psi of boost. For the GT500, supplier and cost concerns required the use of a wet sump, cast-iron block and "Roots-type" supercharger with 9 psi of boost" You can really tell that Ford is having money problems. I can't wait to see a long tern test of this car and the reliability issues that it has from other compromised parts. Anyone can throw a huge engine into a car and call it fast, that appears to be what they've done here. This car could have and should have been so much better. Anyone looking to buy one of these should go out and drive a nice used C6. For about the same price, you'd get so much more for your money. What a dissapointment. |
