Canon 30D

So I just found out today that Canon has come out with a predecessor for the 20D, the 30D. What's everyones thoughts on it? Anyone plan on picking it up? What's the main difference between the 20D and 30D(besides the 2.5" screen, minor changes to the body, etc)? Is it worth selling a 20D to buy the new model?

its worth it if you are planning on upgrading from the 300D; but definately not worth it to upgrade from the 20D.

the only real benefit i see is the "true spot metering" function... besides that, its a 20D for every real piece of kit.

Its not like the upgrade from the 10D to the 20D; it should be called the 21D IMO

you explained that perfectly

Yeah they released it one week before PMA '06.

You know what is the funny thing, which could be attributed to the reasons nthfinity wrote; Instead of people lining up to buy the new 30D, most of the people on the photography community are looking for deals on the 20D :D .

So it must not be that significant of a upgrade.

Better yet if you are looking for something in that class, I heard the D200 is REALLY REALLY good.

Thanks for the heads up, the D200 is a great camera. But I already own a 20D, so I was just wondering if it was worthwhile to upgrade or not.

^ Yeah definitely not then. Like I said I am sure you'll get a lot of money for your 20D though because all the people out there looking to grab a used one :D.

I'm planning on picking one up next month, I really like the spotmetering, large LCD and finally the ISO in the viewfinder.

I've been playing with the idea to exchange my 350D for a 20D for a while, so I might as well go for the upgraded one. :) Oh, and I want to buy a 70-200 f/2.8 L.

Having a fractured kneecap sure has some advantages. As I'm laying in bed all day, I save a lot of money. :)

that is the kind of upgrade that would be worth it :)

that 70-200 f2.8 is awsome... hopefully i'll have one in the not so far future.

A buyer is picking up my 70-200 f/4 L this friday and I've also got a potential buyer for my 350D, so my plans should turn out the way I want.

Only problem is that maybe I have spent some time in the hospital again to rehabilitate with my kneecap. But hey, the longer I wait, the cheaper the 30D gets and the more I have to spend. :)

I thought about getting a 5D with a 24-70 f/2.8 L and selling all my other stuff, but then I'd be without telelens for a while and I'd have to stretch my budget a little to much. Keeping my 350D and getting the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS was another option, but I don't think I'd benefit a lot from the IS.

And it did, 350D is sold and I just sold my 70-200 f/4 L with a €21 profit. :)

Nice, with nothing to lose literally. May I ask how?

Did lose some money on the 350D, but that was expected.

I bought the 70-200 last year for €659 and got €100 back from the Canon Cashback programm. I put it up for sale asking €595, and someone offered €580. Well, that's ok with me. :D
