Me a racing driver
 

Hey guys,

I was approached by Dubai's Autodrome officials and was given a agreement to be trained professionally and paid and go race in FFSA French Championship Formula Campus Renault ELF 2006. it's a single seater car I think smaller than an F3 too with a 1.6 Renault engine as it was explained to me.

Anyway anybody heard of this series before, and what do you think about it. :D I need more info about this.

Obviously work, career and making a living are not top priorities for you - so why not just jump at the chance of being a paid-super-star-play-boy race car driver :P

If you have time to invest into it, why not? You never know what comes next!

Give it a shot ... you are young only once. If you wait much longer you will be too old to get into serious cars like Champcars or F1. It'll take about 4-5 years to get to the top if you have the right stuff and have the right breaks.

Well even if you dont make it, you have the experience of a lifetime. So I see no negatives. You know that your fellow JWites will be rooting for you.

I really want to go through this program and when I think about it it's all right but the time is not right. I mean I just started 2 business of my own, a workshop and a performance part shop, so keeping up with both business and trainning is going to be very very difficult, and the agreement is not making is easy with all the stuff written in their about penelties for not attending one trainning day and stuff like that .. I'm not really sure what I should do.. it's be bothering me for 2 weeks now and I just posted to see what you guys think.

I really wish this thing came 3 month's ago, it would have made it a very easy choice. :| ... I'm confuesed :?

Congrats Evo. You have to think if you want to have a professional race driver career or a just a race driver for hobby. If you choose first option I say go for it but if you choose second option I say go for your business worls.

theres nothing wrong with being a 'gentleman' driver... i can see your dilema.

how is the buisness of starting up Lap 57 going?

have you hired, or do you have help from anyone who is familiar with doing the daily's of running the two shops?

is the time frame of the training/races interfere with dates you have set goals for in your new shop? if they interfere; is there enough time to hire/train somebody who is able to manage a few days w/out your help?

how many hours per day/ and weeks is the training? would it allow you to maintain some presance via various telecomunications whilst not attending a class; and still time for sleep?

if you can manage the opening of the shops, i'd guess that is the toughest part... being away for 1/2 the week (id guess thurs-sun) would only be tough if you dont have some trusted party who can manage w/out you...

hopefully those posed questions will help you in determining if its the right thing to do.

The problem will be that the days of a part-time champion driver are long gone..

You would need and want to give 110% to the race car driving, and not want to have to worry or bother about "business headaches" and problems, unless you are going to just to it as a part time hobby.

At 23 years old, I would ditch the businesses in a heart beat and focus on the racing.

In 8 or 10 years a race-shop being run by an ex-champion will be far easier to grow and promote, than a current race shop being run by an also-ran mid-field contestant ;)

i think insane has got a big point....i say go for it but watch for the person who is running your buissines....

Go for it hey maybe jus maybe u cud become really good and eventually get a ride i an renault f1 car i'd really like to see a Dubai F1 Race driver think its a fantastic place damn i wish someone came up 2 me with that question.

Chance of a lifetime, i don't see how you could say no and live with yourself 10 years from now. Good luck Evo with whatever choice you make. We'll all be pulling for you. :D
