Koenigsegg CCX details released.

Finally, le Salon de l'Auto Genève 2006 is around the corner. And that means the Koenigsegg CCX is to be shown in the public for the first time. Unfortunately, the release of the CCX might not mean much to many people because it's pretty much like the CCR.

It has the same power output as the CCR. It generates the same torque output as the CCR. It does 0-62mph in 3.2 sec, like the CCR. The top speed too is supposed to be similar, if not same, according to Koenigsegg, although Koenigsegg website says that CCX takes almost a second to 1/4mile. So it's not exactly the 1000hp, 260mph car that's going to silence Bugatti Veyron once and for all.

There are good things, though. For example, CCX has been created to meet the ludicrously harsh US regulations. In fact, the CCX just may be the US version of the CCR. (dur.) Which means one thing: You can buy one if you have a spare $540,000!!! and $60,000 more if you want the fully loaded CCX.

Frankly, I think the changes made to the CCR to make it into the US friendly CCX made it less pretty, but only slightly. For example, you get new headlights, new rearlight details, new front bumper, new rear bumper, which sticks out more, and you get more slashes in the body work. And compulsory for US cars, turn indicators on each corner of the car.

CCX comes with other new fancy stuff as well. According to Koenigsegg website, CCX has a new "vortex generator" that lets the engine suck in air without having those cumbersome air intake scoops. ("cough, Bugatti Veyron") Also you can get ceramic brakes and the most amazing thing about it in my opinion, Carbon Fiber Wheels!!!. It's a first-ever.

Anyways, in conclusion, CCX is (from what I can figure) a US-spec CCR that's a bit slower than CCR and is less aerodynamic than the CCR and is less attractive than CCR, and well, the price, we'll have to see the currency exchange rates when it can really be bought by someone.

0-60 in 3.2 is quite an impressive feat for a road going car, even though the Bugatti may be faster. And carbon fiber wheels??? :shock: :D

You know what? It's Carbon/magnesium wheel.
I thought i saw carbon weave on the wheel there.

The spokes, i think are magnesium, but the rim itself must be carbon then.

LOL, up to 3000 km !! What a generous offer !! :lol: I suppose that Tiff's car had reach this mark :wink:

j/k apart (I hope it is a mistake :? ) I like the design of the CCX, I hope they will success in US market :D

I'd play with one for a weekend or two. Might be a hard car to own though. Maintainence would be a bitch and I'd be hesitant to drive it in anything but perfect weather.

That being said, I think it looks great and has the power to match. Would be fun to drive, but horrible to own.

don't know how the do that with wheels... carbon fiber is only really strong going one way, put pressure on it the wrong way and it is dust...

Hmmmm. Isn't it that the Koenigsegg's engine was "inspired" or "based on" the Ford block and is completely different?

Didn´t the "normal" CCR go to 62mph in 3.2 secs aswell? Anyway, i´ve never really been a fan of the car...

Actually, their warranty service is unsurpassed. You call them anytime and they'll either direct you to a qualified mechanic of fly one over to you, parts in hand. A large part of the package is that you are buying into the exclusive club of Koenigsegg owners, who are a priviledged bunch to say the least. Ferrari is doing the exact same thing with the FXX, which is even more outragous, useless and blatantly redicoloous.

The engine is based on an Italian block built form a Ford Motorsport design. Everything else is custom built for Koenigsegg from all the finest name brands. Still, it's unfortiunate that they went for a humble V8 like this. I'd much rather see some exotic twin turbo V12 on BMW or AMG basis!

the warranty is nice.. but u will end up calling the service department every week to fix the car :lol: :lol:

I think they will probably keep coming up with new X, Y, Z's now until they beat the Veyron. :D

remember in gumball acouple years back the guy had to buy a VW to get the part to keep on going

call me crazy, but i really really really like the Koenigsegg (all of them) and would choose one over a Zonda every time... :mrgreen:
