BugattiVeyron vs. McLarenF1 -review by the SundayTimes

found this today, hopefully not a repost

these two guys compare the 2 supercars of each "century"
one is a "racing" version of the McLaren F1, owned by Nick Mason
and the new Veyron

:bah: can't watch the video

"The truth is, apart from being the two fastest cars to set foot on the public road, there is little common ground between the Bugatti and the McLaren. Which is preferable depends on who you are. Would you rather sit in supersonic luxury in seat 1C on Concorde, or be deafened, frightened and thrilled beyond description flying an F-22 fighter? Me too."

sumed it up perfectly

i've always preferred the Mclaren F1 over the 1000hp - 400km\h car with the italian name
partly because it's much prettier, it's more practical and it's more exclusive
but mostly because the driver sits in the middle! how cool is that?!

Perfect example of quality auto journalism... Thanks for the link stmoritzer! I hope that video starts workin

Read the article in the paper ;)

Vid is pretty ordinary, if only there was more on the F1 than the handful of seconds in the end...

Everlasting 03-01-2006 10:30 AM

"more"? it goes from standing still to 60 in 2.5 secs and has a top speed of 252mph i think they've got more than enough out of it
and it will win a race with the mclaren

any idea how one could dl that video?

robruf 03-01-2006 01:58 PM

very nice little article, I would really like to hve the McLaren as well, because it has racing heritage with the LeMans wins

I like both the writeup and his verdict. Good read, thanks.

But thatts wat the boss of Vw wanted a car that could do everything from luxury to top class performance and there's no denying it does do everything but it just does not give me the same buzz as the McLaren F1 I love that thing to asolute death(well not literally) but i just cant see anything beating it in my eyes. I'd take the Macca Everysingle time it, IMO and I Agree totally with Tiff Needell That this is the greatest car ever to be made.

I`ll take my Veyron in an black on black please....

being i think the F1 is a wasted piece of crap (and for good reason) i too choose black on black (no two tone) with a red seats and black stitching. yes, that would be nice ;)

bmagni 03-09-2006 02:14 AM

bah, they missed the CCR, and it would be the top speed fast but slow on track cars competition...

pagani 03-17-2006 10:25 AM

I would love to own the mclaren i am still a fan of it one of the car best drivers car ever.
The bugatti is to damm heavy.
And the mclaren sounds better also.

you know... its stupid to compare a racing version vs. a road car. no wonder it lapped top gear in 1:17.4 (unconfirmed)
