Fake badge or authentic RUF 911SCR??
 

I spotted this car at the local Porsche Club funday. I snapped a shot just in case, but since I did know a RUF 911 SCR existed I did not take proper photos. An internet search revealed the existence of the RUf 911 SCR.
Basically it is an SC upgraded to Carrera spec (3.2 liter engine) 5 years before the Carrera was released by porsche themselves.

It is incredibly hard to find info on the RUF SCR porsche.
Can anyone tell me if this is the way the RUF would be badged or if this is a fake badge?

The car had the normal Porsche badge on the nose.

Man - I can not get past the number plates... :P

The car looks more suited to a yellow FDP223T style number... not quite of the TJ435-122 style.. ;)

I got used to them quickly. The yellow plates look weird now. You still get them on some trailers where people did not replace them.
Although I think you are right in that the yellow plates will suit the car better, period wise.
The black/white plates I remember from being young and I think it will look very strange on the car.

As far as I can find out the RUF 911SCR had a Porsche turbo wing, which this car has. The wing fits so perfectly that it really looks like the real thin, or a very good replica.

i imagine during thier early days, records werent so maticulously kept. props finding such a rare model :)

At first I thought it were the initials that bothered you.

Specials always seem to have skecthy records form the factory.

When we were trying to account for the true total number of RC45's produced, Honda reply was "about 1100 in total - we never kept track of either frames produced, engines assembled or "VIN numbers" assigned - toher than matching shipping records to customs documents of the the day"

To this day you will have a Swedish or German or Swiss or UK RC45 serial number X show up for sale, maybe even with Honda paperwork for the frame and engine number, but it will be a duplicate number to what someone else has.

It seems that Honda would send replacement frames and engines to the country where the team nneded spares, then the numbers would be stamped on the frame and engine to match the existing race teams bike so that they were legal as "road going bikes".

So unless you had an unraced still street chassis like i had, you never quite know which bike it is...

No wonder RUF can't tell you which car is which - they only made a few street going versions.
