Competing in the 2006 SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT Championship, the Nissan Skyline GT-R, “Godzilla,” will make its North American Road Racing debut March 15-17 at Sebring International Raceway

What class?

I mean its an old out of production car - so what set of SCCA rules are they running under to allow it to be legally and competively modified to still be competitive?

Looks interesting - but I would guess it's going to be an amazingly expensive excercise in losing gracefully.

You could take all that money and field a far more competive team that actually had a chance of winning in SCCA - a very competitive series.

Wow, this will be really interesting to see it compete against the Vettes. But because it's the first year i doubt they'll do very well, but this has lots of potential. I wish them luck, and i hope to see it race. They go to Road America right?

Dont mind the look of that skyline. Nice and agressive..

Cool paint job.

Well good luck to them - but this is what the grid of the GT class looks and feels like... factory teams struggle to domininate ;)

I am just thinking it's too little too late - Chevrolet, Pontiac, Porsche, Dodge etc all have newer faster later developed models on the grid.

I wouldn`t underestimate the Skyline.

A capable tech team , a good driver , and you`ll be amazed by the results. :)

I would - it's a great car, just not "the best in class".

stracing 02-20-2006 06:50 AM

so they're not using a V8 like they used to in JGTC?

V8 ? they never used a V8 last engine used for JGTC was the VQ30DETT(3.0V6). and before that was the RB26DETT

RC45 02-20-2006 07:25 PM

Are they running a car based on one of these?

If so - it's hardly a regular production based Skyline ;)

Interesting to see how they do, but as has been mentioned...first year is very tough, not much chance they'll do well.

RC45 02-20-2006 11:59 PM

These are just 2 of the C6 Z06 GT-R's on the grid... this Skyline will need the finger of God pushing it along to take on the new Porkers, Vipers and Z's...
