2007 Porsche 997 TT Ring Time
Car & Driver March 2006 is reporting that the time around "The Ring" is:
7.48 Just in case anyone was interested. |
Well that's actually a really good time IMO. It's not meant to be as hardcore as a GT3-2 or a Gallardo. It's meant to be a sportscar to use everyday, so on that basis and the hp/weight ratio I would say good job Porsche.

good time, nice to hear it :) cant wait till evo gets a hold of it 8)
|
A very impressive time, considering the last 996 turbo managed 7:56, this 997 turbo is nearly as fast as the last GT2(7:47)...I wonder how quick the 997 GT2 will be, maybe close to 7:40? Hopefully it won't be too long before the GT2 is released.

Who was the driver?
Which tyres were used? When was the car tested at the 'ring? |
I am not going to make any comparisons... :P -- but only 7:48?? ;)
:P :D  :fist:  Besides - I thought Nurburgring times were overrated... or is this only the case when a certain other car does badly -- or heaven forbid when a certain other other car does really well.. ;) :P |
^^^ hahaha true, but that is a pretty good time.
Aren't there different catagories of records? what are they? is it on the 'Ring's site? |

lol RC45
still, impressive amount of improvement over the previous turbo's time. I am curious how fast the turbo would be if it had all aluminum bodypanels though, rather than just the doors... |

oh, and whoever said 'turbo isnt as hardcore as the Gallardo' well... the Gallardo is slower around the ring then 7:48  |
a 997 Turbo with close to 500hp and AWD I'd expect it to perform better on the 'Ring than 7'48.. especially when a $65,000 american can lap it 6 full seconds faster..
dani, do you really think the upcoming GT3 will be able to run the ring atleast 6 seconds faster than the turbo? |
