In the MSDOS environment (yes, windows is still based on DOS underneath), "con" is a special device for CONsole. It handles input from keyboard and output to screen.
|
but that shouldnt restrict making a folder named con ... :?
or even searching for it .... |
Folder is just a special type of file and you can consider a device as a very special file. Not sure how to explain it :?
|
con(sole) is a valid output device/destination - in other words con already exists and is known to the system, so as all system components is a reserved name.
