I wonder if it's a research car that GM might be tinkering with...not necessarily something that will be coming to market? |
Ahhh....right. That's what I think too...that maybe there's a test car somewhere, but that it may not actually get to market. Then in some future TV show they'll go "back" to 2005 when there was this one-off "SS" Corvette. :D
I read that the Corvette is actually a money maker for GM, but that everything else is crumbling. They definately need to spend some money and brainpower on the rest of the GM line or eventually, there will never be another Corvette. I do think that they need to have something like Corvette as a corporate image maker. Every manufacturer needs to have that flagship car that can be used as an image for the corporation. But they definately seem to be neglecting the rest of the line. |

The C6 Hairdresser is still heavier and more BMW than the C5 Z06 - the point is that the C6 Z needed to be uber special to allow the car to go GT3 racing, GT racing and dominate the streets and club racing scene. The day GM stick an SS label on a Corvette is the day they lose many loyal die hards. The SS moniker is not what they make it out to be, and has no place on a Corvette - had the original SS stayed a Vette only applicable name then fine, but it didn't so it's not an option :P |

^^ Nah - the C6 Coupe was never supposed to be "as good as" the C5 Z... it's just a 400hp hairdressers car ;) -- in the same vein the C5 Coupe was a 350hp hairdressers car, and a BMW 330i is a girly hairdressers car :P
The C5 Z06 is now the greatest performance bargain the world has ever seen. $30,000 entry price for a 0-60 is 4s, 12s 1/4 mile, 60-0 in 110ft, 1g+ , 175mph top end, 3100lb car that gets 29mpg on the freeway. Nothing comes close to those performance per dollar numbers... nothing. |
